A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by loyalists of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso seeking to challenge the leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party under its founder, Chief Boniface Aniebonam, and National Chairman, Dr Agbo Major.

The suit, brought by Dr Ahmed Ajuji and 20 others, asked the court to bar Aniebonam, Agbo, and other key figures from functioning in their roles, claiming they had been expelled from the party.

But Justice M A Hassan threw out the case, ruling that the court had no jurisdiction to meddle in internal affairs of political parties unless it concerns candidate nominations.

The judge emphasized that party leadership disputes remain an internal matter beyond the scope of judicial intervention.

The decision echoes a similar ruling from the Abia State High Court, dealing a blow to the Kwankwaso-led faction and reinforcing the authority of the current leadership.

Political watchers say the ruling strengthens the grip of Aniebonam and Agbo on the party and could reshape internal dynamics within the NNPP ahead of future elections.
