Justice Binta Fatima Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has barred all parties in the ongoing legal battle between suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio from granting media interviews or streaming court proceedings.
The decision came on April 4 after Akpabio’s counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), raised concerns over Akpoti-Uduaghan’s repeated television appearances where she discussed elements of the case still pending before the court.
Justice Nyako, in a firm but brief ruling, warned that neither the litigants nor their legal teams are permitted to make public comments about the matter.
She also extended the order to prohibit any form of live-streaming or social media coverage from within the courtroom.
Legal analysts say the court’s move is aimed at safeguarding judicial integrity and ensuring that media narratives do not prejudice the case or mislead the public.
Further developments on the high-stakes case are expected as the court resumes hearing in the coming weeks.
