The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has raised petrol prices to N925 per litre in Lagos and N950 per litre in Abuja, effective April 2, 2025.
The hike comes amid rising fuel costs, with independent marketers already selling petrol at N930 in Lagos and N960 in northern states.
Experts link the increase to Dangote Refinery’s halt on naira-based petroleum sales and fluctuations in global crude prices.
The price adjustment also coincides with President Bola Tinubu’s shake-up of NNPCL leadership, replacing Mele Kyari with Bayo Ojulari.
NNPC stations in Lagos and Abuja have begun enforcing the new rates, highlighting the continued instability in Nigeria’s deregulated fuel market.
