Nigeria’s power generation has surged to 6003 megawatts, a major milestone under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu announced on Wednesday.

Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Adelabu highlighted the rapid progress.

He noted that while the country took nearly 40 years to move from 2000 to 4000 megawatts, the current administration has added another 2003 megawatts in less than two years.

Despite this achievement, he challenged engineers to take greater responsibility in strengthening the power infrastructure.

He pointed to the frequent grid collapses as a glaring issue, emphasizing that Nigeria’s engineering expertise must be harnessed to ensure stability.

NSE President Margret Oguntala pledged the society’s support in driving technical innovation, enhancing capacity development, and providing solutions to sustain growth in the power sector.
