Nigeria and Algeria are set to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties as Air Algérie launches its first-ever direct flight from Algiers to Abuja on April 6, 2025.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the development in a statement by Acting Spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, noting that the service is a product of the Bilateral Air Services Agreement between both nations. The flights will be operated using a Boeing 737.
Beyond easing travel, the new route is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and investment opportunities, while providing Nigerians with a seamless link to Europe through Algeria’s strategic location.
The Nigerian Embassy in Algiers was instrumental in finalizing the agreement, and the inaugural flight will carry Nigerian diplomats, community leaders, and top Algerian officials.
The Federal Government has congratulated Air Algérie on this milestone and assured full support for the success and continuity of the route.
Citizens and businesses are encouraged to take advantage of this improved connectivity for economic and cultural benefits.
