Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has vowed to proceed with her visit to Kogi Central for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, despite security restrictions imposed by the state government.
Dismissing speculation about a cancellation, the senator’s media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, clarified on Tuesday that no such decision had been made.
“Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit,” he stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to engaging with her constituents, stressing that her connection with the people of Kogi Central remains unshaken.
“Her dedication to the people of Kogi Central is unwavering, and she looks forward to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents,” the statement read.
The senator’s insistence on visiting comes amid rising tensions following the killing of two people in the state.
The incident, reportedly linked to fishing activities, has heightened security concerns in surrounding communities.
With uncertainty surrounding the state government’s measures, all eyes are now on Kogi Central to see whether Akpoti-Uduaghan will defy the restrictions and go ahead with her planned visit.
