President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defended his decision to remove the Federal Capital Territory from the Treasury Single Account, saying the move has accelerated infrastructure development and improved governance in the capital city.

Speaking at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday during a Sallah homage by FCT residents, Tinubu stated that bureaucratic bottlenecks under the TSA were stalling progress.

He noted that since the exemption, abandoned projects have been revived, roads expanded, healthcare services improved, and schools upgraded.

He credited FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for presenting a compelling case for the policy shift and urged Nigerians to judge leaders by their performance rather than ethnic or religious affiliations.

Wike, in his remarks, thanked the President for his support and assured that more projects would be completed under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
