TETFund to Launch 18 Innovation Hubs in 2025

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has unveiled plans to establish 18 new Innovation Hubs in Nigerian tertiary institutions next year to boost research, technology, and entrepreneurship.

TETFund Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, announced this on Saturday in Abuja at the closing of the 30th Research for Impact cohort, held in collaboration with Innov8 Technology Hub.

He said the initiative will drive problem-solving research and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry.

The Innovation Hubs are being set up in phases, with 12 institutions benefiting in 2023, 18 in 2024, and another 18 set for 2025.

Meanwhile, National Board for Technical Education Executive Secretary, Idris Bugaje, urged polytechnics to develop homegrown technologies and secure patents, while Innov8 Hub Director, Edward Singhatey, emphasized the need to commercialize research.
