The Christian Association of Nigeria has extended warm felicitations to Muslims across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and national harmony in the face of rising challenges.
In a statement signed by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN acknowledged the shared values of prayer, fasting, and charity between Christians and Muslims, emphasizing that such principles should strengthen national cohesion.
However, the association condemned the recent mob killing of sixteen hunters in Uromi, Edo State.
The victims, who were traveling from Port Harcourt to Kano for the Eid celebration, were mistaken for kidnappers and brutally lynched.
Describing the act as a grave violation of human rights, CAN called on the government to launch a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served.
The statement stressed the need for stronger law enforcement to prevent further descent into lawlessness.
CAN reaffirmed its commitment to interfaith dialogue and cooperation, urging leaders at all levels to promote understanding and reject violence.
The Apex Christian Body in Nigeria called on Nigerians to foster peace, support the needy, and stand against actions that threaten national stability.
