The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced Sunday March 30, 2025, as Eid-el-Fitr day, marking the conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan.
The announcement followed the sighting of the Shawwal moon, which signifies the end of Ramadan and the beginning of a new Islamic month.
The Sultan, who also serves as the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, made the declaration after consulting with the National Moon Sighting Committee.
With this confirmation, Muslims across Nigeria will observe Eid-el-Fitr on Sunday, engaging in prayers, festivities, and acts of charity to commemorate the completion of the fasting period.
The Sultan called on Muslims to uphold the values of Ramadan, including compassion, generosity, and self-discipline, urging Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect during the celebrations.
