The United States Embassy in Nigeria has issued a security alert, warning of potential disruptions as the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), prepares for a major protest in Abuja and other cities on Friday, March 28, 2025.
In a statement on Friday, the embassy cautioned that the demonstration could lead to roadblocks, checkpoints, and heavy traffic congestion.
Identified protest hotspots include Bannex Plaza, Berger Junction, Unity Fountain, Eagle Square, and major mosques.
Residents have been urged to avoid protest zones, stay alert, monitor local media, and ensure their phones remain charged for emergencies.
Despite the concerns, the US Consular Sections in Abuja and Lagos will remain open, the embassy confirmed.
