A violent confrontation erupted in Abuja on Friday as members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), clashed with soldiers during a Quds Day procession, triggering a gun battle near Banex Plaza.

The chaos unfolded just hours after the United States Embassy issued a security alert, warning of possible disruptions due to planned IMN protests in the capital and other major cities.

The advisory had cautioned that previous demonstrations by the group led to roadblocks, heavy traffic, and violent confrontations.

Eyewitnesses reported that security forces moved in to disperse the procession when tensions escalated, leading to gunfire and widespread panic in the area.

Authorities have yet to provide an official casualty report, but the situation remains tense as security operatives monitor further developments.
