The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has canceled this year’s Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration, citing security concerns in the state.
Speaking at the Nasarawa Mini Palace on Wednesday night, the Emir emphasized that maintaining peace is more important than the annual festivities.
The cancellation, which would have marked his fifth year on the throne, followed consultations with Islamic clerics, elders, and council members.
He urged Kano residents to celebrate in peace, visit loved ones, and pray for divine blessings during the Ramadan season.
