A middle age man identified as Rayyanu was found dead inside a mosque in Paso community, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory after observing the early morning Subhi prayer.
Residents said the incident happened on Tuesday around 5:56 am when Rayyanu arrived at the mosque on a motorcycle, performed his prayers, and decided to take a brief nap. However, he never woke up.
“It was around 7:28 am when those in charge of cleaning the mosque saw him lying there. They tried to wake him, but he did not respond,” a resident, Ibrahim Musa, said.
An alarm was raised, drawing the attention of Muslim elders who rushed him to the hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.
His body was later handed over to his relatives for burial.
The police in the area were not informed of the incident, while the FCT Police Command has yet to issue an official statement.
