The federal government has declared Monday and Tuesday as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Magdalene Ajani, the permanent secretary in the ministry of interior, announced the holidays in a statement issued on Wednesday night.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, urged Muslims to embrace self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace, stressing that love, forgiveness, and solidarity are essential for national harmony.

He also encouraged Nigerians to pray for the country’s peace, stability, and prosperity during the festive period.

“The minister urged citizens to celebrate safely and responsibly while remembering the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity, in line with the true spirit of Ramadan and Eid,” the statement read.

On behalf of the federal government, he extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslims and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfillment to everyone.
