The Federal Capital Territory Golf Association has launched the ‘Golf to School’ initiative to introduce young students to the sport and promote golf at the grassroots level.
Six schools in Abuja have been selected for the program, including Government Secondary School Gwarinpa, Government Secondary School Karshi, Government Secondary School Tundun Wada, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Dutse, and Aduvie International School.
At a stakeholders’ meeting, principals and games masters were briefed on integrating golf into school sports.
Chairman of the association, Akabom Enebong, said the project aims to establish golf academies in collaboration with the FCT Education and Sports departments while dispelling the perception that golf is an elite game.
Representatives from the Department of School Sports and the participating schools pledged full support, describing the initiative as a vital step in nurturing future golf champions and expanding sports education.
