Argentina’s forward Ángel Di María has responded with amusement to a bold prediction by Brazilian winger Raphinha ahead of their FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Raphinha, in an interview with Brazilian legend Romário, confidently declared that Brazil would thrash Argentina in Tuesday’s showdown at the Estadio Mas Monumental.
The Barcelona star went further, boasting that he would score and dismissing Argentina with an expletive-laced remark.
His comments quickly went viral after Sportscenter ESPN shared the clip, drawing a reaction from Di María.
The Argentine veteran, who scored the winner against Brazil in the 2021 Copa America final, simply posted three laughing emojis, appearing unbothered by Raphinha’s taunts.
The high stakes clash will be missing two of its biggest stars, as Lionel Messi is sidelined with an adductor injury while Neymar remains out with a thigh problem.
Despite their absence, the match is expected to be a fierce battle between South America’s football giants.
