The Federal Government has approved the temporary closure of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan to allow for major upgrade works aimed at improving its facilities.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria announced the closure, stating that the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency has shut both the runway and the entire airport in line with international aviation regulations.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs Obiageli Orah, explained that the project is part of the Oyo State government’s plan to transform the airport into an international aviation hub.
She assured passengers and stakeholders that the decision was taken to ensure safety and compliance with global standards.
FAAN urged the public to remain patient as the government works to enhance the airport’s operational capacity and overall efficiency.
