Navy Lieutenant Cynthia Akor and her sister, who were abducted in Abuja, have regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation.
The siblings were rescued around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday in the Karu area of Abuja.
Their release was secured through joint efforts by the Guards Brigade, Naval Unit Abuja, Federal Capital Territory Police Command, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Akor, who serves at the Defence Headquarters, and her sister were kidnapped on Friday night in Mpape, a suburb of Abuja.
The abductors initially demanded N100 million but received N4 million from the victims’ family before security forces closed in.
As the security team advanced, the kidnappers abandoned the victims in Karu, leaving behind some cash, clothing, and personal belongings.
Security operatives have arrested several relatives of the suspects, including a mother, sister, father, and wife, who are reportedly assisting with the investigation.
