Wike Praises Tinubu’s Education Reforms, Pledges Commitment to National Growth

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s higher education sector, calling them transformative under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking at the University of Calabar after receiving an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Law during the institution’s 50th anniversary convocation, Wike praised initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which provides financial relief for students, and the Students Start up Innovation and Entrepreneurship Grant, which empowers young entrepreneurs.

He also commended the removal of universities from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, restoring financial autonomy, and the decision to domicile TETFund research funds in universities to boost innovation.

Expressing gratitude for the honorary degree, Wike described it as a call to greater service and reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to education, governance, and national development.
