The Niger Delta Development Commission has injected N60 million into rice farming, equipping 300 farmers with starter packs worth N200,000 each to boost production and drive economic growth in the region.
The support comes under the commission’s Capacity Building Programme for Rice Farmers on Commercial Scale, designed to equip farmers with modern farming techniques, agribusiness strategies, and processing skills.
The initiative also fosters cooperative formations and linkages with financial institutions.
NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to making agriculture a major economic force in the region.
He urged beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity, scale up production, and contribute to the federal government’s drive for food security.
