The Federal Government has granted approval for full time Higher National Diploma graduates to participate in the National Youth Service Corps scheme, a move seen as a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s education system.
Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, announced the decision through the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.
He explained that the approval came after discussions with the NYSC Director General and is aimed at ensuring fairness in the system.
Alausa clarified that only graduates of full time HND programmes are eligible, while those from part time programmes remain ineligible.
To facilitate the process, the National Board for Technical Education has been directed to compile data of qualified graduates, with Polytechnic Rectors instructed to upload relevant details on a new admission portal.
He urged eligible graduates to seize the opportunity, reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusivity in national development.
