A major political shift is unfolding in Kogi Central as constituents launch a recall process against their senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Residents across the district have begun signing petitions, expressing dissatisfaction with her performance.

The signature collection, which began on March 19, is taking place across the five local government areas of Ajaokuta, Adavi, Okene, Lokoja, and Okehi.

Even in Ihima, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s hometown, many voiced frustration over her representation.

Abdullahi Usman, a resident, said he joined the recall effort due to a loss of confidence, while Hajia Rabi Mohammed in Ajaokuta called for a leader with a stronger reputation.

Organizers expect to gather enough signatures by March 21.

However, PDP chieftain Abdulrahman Badamasiuyi dismissed the recall as baseless and reaffirmed support for Akpoti-Uduaghan, insisting she holds a valid mandate until 2027.

The recall effort underscores deep political tensions in Kogi Central, as constituents push for greater accountability from their elected representatives.
