Tanker Explosion Rocks Abuja, Scores Feared Killed

Fuel tanker explosion near Karu Bridge in Nyanya, Abuja, has left many feared dead after the vehicle lost control and crashed, triggering a massive inferno.

Eyewitnesses said the tanker, reportedly carrying both liquid fuel and compressed natural gas cylinders, suffered brake failure and slammed into multiple vehicles.

The impact caused a series of powerful explosions, sending fireballs and shrapnel soaring hundreds of meters into the air.

“I saw the tanker speeding uncontrollably before it crashed. Within seconds, there was an explosion, and fire spread everywhere,” a survivor recounted.

Panic gripped the area as people ran for safety, with several vehicles instantly engulfed in flames, trapping occupants inside.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and medical teams, arrived swiftly to battle the blaze and assist victims.

Authorities have yet to confirm the number of casualties, but fears of heavy loss of life remain high due to the intensity of the explosions.

The fire also caused extensive damage to nearby structures and vehicles.
