The House of Representatives Committee on Works has warned Infiouest Construction Company to meet the deadline for the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway project or face sanctions.
During an oversight visit, Committee Chairman Akin Alabi emphasized the road’s national importance and demanded quality delivery within the 14-month completion period.
The project was originally awarded to Julius Berger but revoked in 2024 due to non-performance.
Alabi insisted that the new contractor must prove its competence, adding that lawmakers would monitor progress every two weeks.
Infiouest’s Project Manager, Robert Turner, assured full commitment to the timeline, acknowledging the road’s significance.
The committee also inspected the Abuja-Lokoja road, where JRB Construction is repairing 22 kilometers of failed sections. JRB’s project manager attributed past failures to poor materials but promised improved quality.
Federal Controller of Works, Usman Yakubu, confirmed that both projects are on track, assuring the public of value for money.
