The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to sack the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Dauda, over allegations of unfair compensation in the Gishiri community, Katampe District.

Speaking at a stakeholders meeting in Abuja on Monday, Wike reacted angrily to reports that residents were offered as little as N72,000 per building as compensation for properties affected by the Arterial Road N16 project.

He ordered the immediate disbursement of the approved compensation and warned that anyone found tampering with the process would be dismissed.

Gishiri youth leader, Umaru Godwin, accused the FCDA of proposing a waterlogged area for resettlement, while resident Princess Juliet Jonah confirmed that the meager payouts sparked protests.

Wike assured residents that rightful property owners with valid documents would receive fair compensation, vowing to punish anyone attempting to shortchange them.
