Food prices in Abuja and its environs are falling, bringing relief to consumers struggling with high living costs.

A market survey by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shows a 50kg bag of rice now sells for N81,000–N87,000 in major markets like Garki and Kado, down from over N100,000 in January.

In Nyanya, prices are even lower, ranging from N70,000–N83,000.

Onion prices have plunged dramatically—at Orange Market, a bag now costs N55,000, down from N100,000, while in Garki, it has fallen from N200,000 to N60,000.

Other staples, including garri, palm oil, and beans, have also seen price cuts.

A 25-litre keg of red oil now sells for N50,000 at Nyanya Market, compared to N83,000 previously.

Meanwhile, white beans, once priced at N200,000 per bag, now range between N115,000 and N120,000 at Kado Market.

Traders credit the price drop to improved supply and better logistics, offering consumers some financial relief amid economic challenges.
