The Rivers State Police Command has denied claims that the Port Harcourt residence of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, was attacked or set on fire by unknown assailants.

Several online reports on Sunday night alleged that Wike’s home had been torched amid rising tensions in the state.

However, in a statement on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Grace Iringe Koko dismissed the reports as false and misleading.

“There is no record of any such incident. This is a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to incite unrest and spread fear among residents. The public should disregard these claims,” she stated.

Iringe Koko also warned against spreading false information, stressing that those responsible would face legal action.

She assured residents that the police remain committed to maintaining security and urged them to rely on credible sources for information.
