The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked 4,794 land titles due to non-payment of ground rent for over 10 years.

Announcing the decision in Abuja on Monday, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Director of Lands, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, stated that property owners failed to comply despite multiple public notices.

According to the officials, a total of 8,375 property owners across key districts, including Garki, Wuse, Maitama, and Asokoro, have defaulted on payments amounting to nearly ₦7 billion, with some arrears dating back 43 years.

The FCTA warned that owners who have defaulted for up to 10 years have already lost their land titles, while those owing between one and ten years have 21 days to settle outstanding payments or face revocation.
