Senator Babafemi Ojudu has raised serious concerns over former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s latest political realignment, questioning whether it is driven by national interest or personal ambition.
In an open letter, Ojudu recounted their shared political history but warned against what he called Nigeria’s endless cycle of political defections.
He criticized the lack of ideological depth in the country’s political parties and urged El-Rufai to focus on building a lasting political institution rather than seeking personal control.
Ojudu also expressed disappointment over El-Rufai’s alliance with figures like Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, calling it a betrayal of democratic values.
“If this is just another barber’s chair, spinning in circles but going nowhere, then you are wasting your time,” Ojudu wrote, concluding with a warning that history will be the ultimate judge.
