Police in Jigawa State have arrested a 45-year-old teacher, Musa Wada, for allegedly beheading his 14-year-old Almajiri student, Bashir Adamu, and cutting off his genitals.
Spokesperson for the Jigawa Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest, revealing that detectives acted on a tip-off.
During interrogation, Wada admitted that Bashir died while being punished for skipping school. To conceal the incident, he beheaded the boy and mutilated his body to make it look like a ritual killing.
The victim’s decomposing, headless body was discovered on March 12, 2025, by the roadside in Jikas Dabaja village, Gwaram Local Government Area. The police later traced the remains to Bashir Adamu.
Shiisu disclosed that Wada buried the victim’s head and genitals on his farmland. The suspect remains in custody and will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.
