The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has assured students that beneficiaries of the student loan scheme will not face any travel restrictions after graduation.
Speaking at a sensitization programme at Edo University, Iyamho, NELFUND Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, dismissed concerns that the scheme’s law prevents recipients from seeking opportunities abroad.
While urging beneficiaries to take loan repayment seriously, he emphasized that graduates working outside Nigeria are still expected to fulfill their financial obligations.
He highlighted the scheme’s advantages, including interest-free repayment and the absence of collateral requirements.
Providing an update, Sawyerr disclosed that NELFUND has already processed payments for 261,000 students and is set to disburse up to ₦135 billion once all applications are finalized.
