Tanker explosion rocked Lagos late Tuesday night, leaving two people dead, four injured, and massive destruction in its wake.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Otedola Bridge when a tanker, struggling to ascend the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway link road, lost control, overturned, and spilled its contents—triggering an inferno.
Flames engulfed at least 15 vehicles, including tricycles, and destroyed four buildings, several shops, and household properties.
Conflicting reports emerged regarding casualties, with police confirming two deaths, while the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), reported one fatality.
Mrgaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, revealed that the blaze also spread to a church and an adjoining bungalow, worsening the devastation.
Panic gripped motorists as they scrambled to flee, with some abandoning their vehicles to escape the raging fire.
Emergency responders remain on-site, assessing the full extent of the damage and continuing rescue efforts.
