The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Tuesday demolished structures in Gishiri, Abuja, after traditional rulers and residents rejected compensation offers.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was present to oversee the operation, which authorities say aligns with the enforcement of the Abuja city master plan and the reclamation of government land.

Despite pleas from some residents, the FCTA insisted the demolition was necessary for urban planning and infrastructure development in the capital.
