The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Monday reserved judgment in the appeal filed by Samuel Anyanwu, the embattled Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), seeking to overturn his removal from office.

Anyanwu is challenging the Court of Appeal’s decision, which upheld a Federal High Court ruling that sacked him and recognized Sunday Udey-Okoye as his replacement.

He argued that the appellate court erred in law by allowing the trial court to rule on internal party matters, which he claims are non-justiciable.

He also contended that the PDP’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms were not exhausted before the suit was filed.

During the hearing, all respondents urged the Supreme Court to dismiss the appeal, with senior counsel Erokoro citing precedent.

The court also struck out Anyanwu’s motion for a stay of execution after his counsel, Ken Njemanze, withdrew it without objection.

A five-member panel, led by Justice Uwani Musa Abba-Aji, will announce the judgment date later.
