The Federal Government has officially converted the General Hospital in Kumo, Gombe State, into the Kumo Federal Medical Centre, marking a significant boost to healthcare in the Northeast.
Announced by Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga on Sunday, the move follows Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya’s request and aims to tackle the region’s high maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
President Tinubu, approving the takeover, lauded Governor Yahaya’s commitment to healthcare, noting that the facility will serve as a tertiary hospital, train medical professionals, and enhance healthcare delivery across the state.
