The family of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, has dismissed claims by former military ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida, that Abacha was behind the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Mohammed Abacha, son of the late leader, accused Babangida of rewriting history to shift blame.
He argued that as Head of State, Babangida held absolute power and was solely responsible for the controversial decision.
The Abacha family urged Nigerians to reject “revisionist narratives” and assess Abacha’s legacy with fairness and objectivity.
