Nigerian actor and content creator Yemi Elesho has opened up about his long-standing friendship with Grammy-winning singer Asake, revealing the singer’s humble beginnings before stardom.
In a recent interview with streamer Jigan, Elesho recounted how, during their undergraduate years at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Asake regularly featured in his movies and skits—not for money, but for a plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola.
“He is my day-one, my very good friend. We have pictures and videos from our time at OAU. We even played celebrity football matches together,” Elesho shared.
His revelation sheds light on Asake’s journey from modest beginnings to global fame, underscoring the resilience and passion that fueled his rise in the music industry.
