President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm wishes to Christians in Nigeria and worldwide as they begin the 40-day Lenten season, urging prayer, self-denial, and acts of kindness.

In a statement on Thursday, Tinubu described Lent—which begins on Ash Wednesday—as a time for reflection and spiritual renewal.

He called on Nigerians to demonstrate Christ’s love by showing compassion to the needy, comforting the grieving, and uplifting the marginalized.

“This year’s Lent coincides with Ramadan, a sacred period for Muslims that also emphasizes devotion, sacrifice, and kindness. This overlap reflects the unity in diversity that defines our nation,” he noted.

As Nigerians observe Lent, the President prayed for divine healing, prosperity, and peace, urging citizens to embrace selflessness and service in their daily lives.
