Plateau State has set a N52 billion internal revenue target for the 2025 fiscal year, following a surge in collections under the current administration.
Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Dr. Jim Pam Wayas, announced on Friday that the state’s revenue grew from N3.9 billion in 2022 to N31.4 billion by the end of 2024, surpassing the N30 billion mark for the first time.
In January 2025 alone, the IRS collected a record N3.3 billion, more than double the N1.6 billion recorded in January 2024.
Wayas outlined plans to expand the tax net, improve administration, and enhance collection mechanisms to meet the new target.
He acknowledged that declining federal allocations due to foreign debt pose a challenge but urged citizens to support the state’s revenue drive, promising transparency and accountability in fund management.
Wayas expressed confidence that with greater cooperation, Plateau could surpass its N52 billion goal and effectively fund development projects.
