In a groundbreaking development, Nigeria’s power sector has hit an all-time high, generating a record 5,801.84 megawatts (MW) and transmitting 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh) nationwide.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the milestone on March 4, 2025, at 21:15 hrs, surpassing previous records and signaling progress in the country’s electricity sector despite lingering challenges.
This latest feat eclipses the March 2 peak of 5,713.60MW and the February 14 record of 5,543.20MW, reinforcing the federal government’s commitment to enhancing power generation, transmission, and distribution.
In a statement released Wednesday on X, TCN assured Nigerians of continued efforts to sustain and improve electricity supply across the country.
