The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued Chief Superintendent of Police Modestus Ojiebe, who was abducted on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway after his vehicle broke down near Dei-Dei Police Barracks.
Gunmen attacked Ojiebe and his wife, robbing them of their phones and ATM cards. Upon discovering his police ID, the kidnappers took him away, leaving his wife behind.
Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed Ojiebe’s rescue, crediting the swift response of Dawaki Divisional Police Officer and his team, who mobilized checkpoints and patrol units across the FCT.
The officer was freed the same night, while the kidnappers fled into the bushes in Nasarawa State.
FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu has urged residents to report suspicious activities via the emergency line 08032003913 as efforts to track down the criminals continue.
