President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of Alhaji Haruna Katsina, the Sarkin Sasa and Chairman of the Council of Arewa Traditional Leaders in the 17 southern states, describing his death as a great loss to the nation.
Alhaji Katsina, who died at 125, was laid to rest over the weekend in Sasa, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement on Monday, Presidential Adviser Bayo Onanuga conveyed Tinubu’s condolences to the late leader’s family, the governments of Oyo and Katsina states, and Arewa communities across the South.
Tinubu praised the Sarkin Sasa’s lifelong commitment to fostering unity, peaceful coexistence, and ethnic harmony in Nigeria, noting that his passing marks the end of an era of traditional leadership rooted in inclusivity and peace.
