The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed viral social media claims about the presence of 79 terrorists in Lugbe, Abuja, labeling the reports as false and misleading.
In a statement on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi debunked the widely circulated message, warning that it was a deliberate attempt to incite panic and disrupt peace in the Federal Capital Territory.
“The message alleging a terrorist presence and curfew in Lugbe is entirely untrue and should be ignored,” Adejobi stated.
He clarified that security assessments found no evidence supporting the claims.
The police urged the public to rely on verified information from official sources and cautioned against spreading unverified security alerts.
They reassured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property while encouraging vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
