The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the assassination of businessman Ismaila Awoyinka, who was brutally gunned down outside his home in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, on Saturday night.
Eyewitnesses say Awoyinka, a well-known building materials dealer, had just finished the Taraweeh prayer, a nightly Ramadan ritual, when armed men dressed in white ambushed him near Idi Mango, opposite Caring Heart Mega School.
The assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.
The chilling attack has sparked outrage and fear across Ore, with many residents demanding urgent security intervention.
ASP Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Command’s spokesperson, assured the public that investigations are underway to track down the killers.
Odigbo Local Government Chairman, Taiwo Adegoroye, described the assassination as a devastating blow to the community and called for intensified efforts to curb rising violence in the area.
As police intensify their probe, the community remains on edge, mourning the tragic loss and hoping for swift justice.
