LAPO Microfinance Bank has appointed Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, marking a significant leadership transition.
He succeeds Mrs. Osaretin Demuren, who played a key role in strengthening the bank’s position in Nigeria’s microfinance sector.
In a statement on Monday, the bank expressed confidence in Dr. Ehigiamusoe’s ability to build on past successes and drive financial inclusion efforts.
As the founder of the Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) in the late 1980s, he has been instrumental in expanding its reach into microfinance, healthcare, insurance, and agriculture.
With a doctorate in policy and development studies and credentials as a chartered microfinance banker, Dr. Ehigiamusoe is expected to reinforce LAPO’s mission of providing accessible financial services, particularly to underserved communities.
He has pledged to deepen financial inclusion and expand access to financial services across Nigeria.
