The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has resigned along with Deputy Speaker Nojeem Fatai and Chief Whip Sanni Okanlawon, as the Assembly grapples with a deepening leadership crisis.
The lawmakers announced their resignations on Monday, following the All Progressives Congress (APC) directive for leadership restructuring.
During the session, colleagues lauded Meranda for her 49-day tenure, with Temitope Adewale praising her for fostering unity and loyalty.
A lawmaker reaffirmed their allegiance to the party, stating, “We are politicians, and our party is supreme.”
The shake-up signals a major power shift as lawmakers realign with the APC’s position on the unfolding crisis.
