The Lagos State House of Assembly has directed all staff and legislative aides to work remotely indefinitely due to escalating tensions over the ongoing leadership crisis.
Acting Clerk Babatunde Ottun announced the decision on Sunday, citing safety concerns following a power struggle that began in January when 32 lawmakers ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and installed Mojisola Meranda.
The crisis deepened on February 27 when Obasa, backed by security personnel, forcefully reclaimed his office despite opposition.
Obasa has since filed a lawsuit against Meranda and the Assembly, with a court hearing set for Friday.
Meanwhile, Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, has recognized Meranda’s leadership and urged staff to cooperate with her administration.
The remote work directive remains in place as tensions simmer.
