A massive power outage has plunged the Presidential Villa and several parts of Abuja into darkness, following technical faults affecting key electricity feeders under the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

The disruption, traced to faults in the R4 Injection Substation at Three Arm Zone, Aso Drive—responsible for supplying power to Aso Rock—left Nigeria’s seat of power without electricity.

Other affected areas include major districts and estates across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement released on Friday via its official X handle, AEDC confirmed the outage, urging affected residents to remain patient as its engineers work to restore power.

The company listed impacted areas such as Gwagwalada, Kuje, Katampe, Idu Industrial, Gwarinpa, and several high-profile estates, including the American Embassy Estate and Paradise Estate.

The latest blackout underscores ongoing infrastructure challenges within Abuja’s power distribution network, as reports indicate that over 188 locations in the FCT have suffered similar outages in the past two months.

Residents and businesses in affected areas continue to grapple with the impact, as AEDC races against time to resolve the technical failures.
