In a major crackdown on crime across the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command has arrested 245 suspects during a series of raids targeting criminal hideouts, black spots, and abandoned buildings.
The intelligence-led operations, conducted between February 6 and 23, 2025, focused on crime-prone areas, including Kurudu, Dutse Alhaji, Kubwa, Wuye, Galadimawa, Iddo, Kuje, Apo, Zuba, Asokoro, Karshi, Karu, and Byazhin.
During the raids, officers recovered a significant cache of dangerous weapons and illicit substances, including dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, three axes, three machetes, several pills linked to substance abuse, handmade bongs, glue tubes, and plastic containers commonly used for drug consumption.
The police also heightened surveillance on abandoned buildings, many of which had been turned into drug dens and criminal hideouts.
Property owners have been urged to secure their buildings to prevent misuse, while relevant government agencies have been called upon to take necessary action.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to security, stating that those found culpable would face swift prosecution.
He encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the command’s emergency contacts.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining law and order, vowing to sustain decisive action against all forms of criminality.
